My tribal marks are divine separation for God’s work

JOHN THOMSON
Man in the pulpit Index

While many see the marks on their faces as that of identification of the tribe they come from, the General Overseer of "Jesus Is The Lord Ministry", Prophet Samson Olayooye sees it differently.

According to him, his own tribal marks connote separation for God’s divine assignment.
The indigene of Oyo State and former Assistant Superintendent of Prisons (ASP) also advised Christians not see the ban on miracles on television as persecution.

Background
I am Prophet Samson Olayooye from Oyo state. After my secondary school in 1984, I came to Lagos to look for a job. On arrival, I attached myself to The Apostolic Church, where I was active in the choir and other departments like evangelism and interpreting for the ministers. Through an elder of the church, I was enlisted into the Nigeria Prisons Service, where I rose to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Prisons (ASP). I am married to Pastor (Mrs.) Favour Olayooye.

How the ministry started
While in prisons service, I attended All Nations for Christ Bible College established by the late Archbishop Benson Idahosa, and obtained a diploma in theology in 1994. I was equally running a fellowship and it was there that God gave me the name of the ministry as "Jesus is The Lord Ministry a.k.a. Tabernacle of Safety." In 1996, I resigned from service and took up a full time ministry.

Youthful days
From my youth, I was guided by the hand of God because of the prophecy that surrounded my birth. I did not involve myself in any occultic or fetish activities. I was introduced to church at a very tender age though, it was more of religion but it helped me a lot. I have a strict parental upbringing. They were very religious, therefore, they did not allow me to derail.

Unique ministry
What distinguishes my ministry from others is that it is a prophetic one. There is nothing on ground now that did not come through prophetic declarations – building, computer centre and a clinic, they all came through prophetic utterances. No committee was set up to deliberate on them.

Ban on TV miracle
It depends on the view of individuals. If God calls you, He has to back up your calling with proofs. Teaching and preaching is also a commission from God. What the Federal Government did was to curtail the excesses of some pastors, to remove unnecessary competitions and enhance tolerance from other religions. However, the total ban is not proper but I suggest that it be regulated. Yet, I don’t see it as a persecution on Christians.

Similarities between me and the biblical Samson
The circumstances surrounding our birth is the same. A prophecy came to my mother when she was pregnant that she was carrying a man of God in her womb. Today, it has come to pass. I’m like the Biblical Samson. I hate injustice like he did.

Advice to Nigerians
Let everybody hope and trust in God and pray for the leaders to trust God for wisdom, and above all, to remain focused in whatever they are doing in righteousness.
