From Christopher Isiguzo in Owerri
Mbaise, a community in Imo State, weekend ended a three-day Restoration Crusade organised by United Congress of Mbaise Christians (UCMC) with the destruction of no fewer than 100 shrines scattered all over the area.

The crusade, which attracted an unprecedented crowd estimated at more than one and half million people each night, was characterised by innumerable signs and wonders as different people were healed of diversed sicknesses, ranging from ear problems, chest pains while many others vomitted poisons.

Briefing newsmen at the end of the three-day crusade in which a renouned Evangelist, Dr, Umar Ukpai, ministered, UCMC National President, Deacon Bright Alaribe, said UCMC, currently made up of 66 denominations and Christian groups, is a structured movement that is intended to use pure Christian values, ethics and dynamic relationship with the God’s power to achieve the total emancipation of Mbaise nation spiritually, economically and politically.
He said the body is about a people united in God to re-position their land and attain their destiny in Jesus, adding that Mbaise is to lgb land what lgboland is to Nigeria and since lgboland was waiting for the restoration of Mbaise the entire country is indirectly waiting for the empowerment and restoration of Mbaise land.

He said with the destruction of no fewer than 100 shrines that have hitherto constituted a barrier to the development of the land, it has become obvious that the destiny of Mbaise people would soon be changed for the better.

"Shrines were destroyed in Umuhu-okwuato, Mbutu, Lorji, Uvuru and Lagwa. It will not end there, it's a continous thing. We are getting good responds from the worshippers of these shrines and very soon, the over 1,000 shrines in Mbaise land would be destroyed completely,” he said.
ln their separate contributions at the press briefing, some leaders of the congress including Deacon Athan Ebiwe (National Secretary), Pastor Greg Ugwu (Deputy National President), Evang. Peter Nwachukwu (Trustee), Elder Onyebuchi Onyeikegbulem (Treasurer), said it is only when the people get closer to God that everything about such people would be changed.

"We've taken the bold step. It's going to be well with Mbaise land," they said.
