Why Ethnic Groups Must Unite - Ooni

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade yesterday called for unity among all the ethnic groups in the nation in a bid to move the nation forward among the comity of nations. 
He spoke yesterday in his Enu Owa Palace Ile Ife, while confering the chieftaincy title of the Aare Obateru of the source on the executive governor of Nasarawa State, Alhaji Abdullahi Adamu. 
The ooni of Ife who described Governor Adamu as a complete detrabilised Nigerian who uses his office to better the lots of the people, called on all political office holders to ensure that the corporate existence of the nation is topmost in their minds.  
He stressed that "the title of Aare Obateru was conferred on him for the unforgettable role he played at the time he was minister of state for works when he contributed immensely to the final successful completion of the Ife-Ibadan dual carriage way even at a time when all hopes were almost fading away". 
According to the Royal father, Governor Adamu "has also been a symbol of unity and stability, a first class detrabilised Nigerian whose leadeship style is worthy of emulation" 
"we actually have been in the forefront alongside with institutions in the promotion of Nigeria's oneness and total emancipation of the people of Nigeria". In his comment, Governor Adamu thanked Oba Sijuwade for counting him worthy to be so honoured, saying he appreciated the title and promised not to relent in his efforts.. 
He added that the award of the traditional title would make him do more for the Yoruba race in particular and the nation in general in whatever situation he found himself. 
Digntaries that attended the ceremony include Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola of Osun State, , Otunba Gbenga Daniel, (Ogun) Alhaji Rasheed Ladoja (Oyo), Governor Ayo Fayose (Ekiti), Dr. Segun Agagu (Ondo), Dr. Peter Odili (River state) and deputy governors of Nasarawa and Benue states. 
Also in attendance are the Esama of Benin, Sir Igbinedon, the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero, Emir of Zazzau, Alahji Shehu Idris, Emir of Lafia, Alahji Isa Mustapha, Emir of Keffi, Alahji Muhammadu Chindo, the Odemo of Ishara, the Ataoja of osogbo, Oba Iyiola Oyewale Matanmi, the Aloko of Iloko-Ijesa, Oba Oladele Olashore, and senator Akinlabi Olasunkanmi (Osun West) and the Olumoro of Moro among others.
