Our Focus The main focus of the Directory is to bring out an all encompassing document that covers all the gamut of the culture and tourism sub-sectors which would in turn create the enabling environment for the provision of the diversification of Nigeria’s economic base from oil and gas through the development of Arts, Culture and Tourism prospects. This is in realization of the great economic potentials that abound in the Arts, Culture and Tourism as a source of foreign exchange revenue earnings and for greater employment opportunities. It is noted that these potentials have remained largely undeveloped and under-utilized and to a great extent employment and revenue generation from the sectors are virtually insignificant. It would be reiterated that the Directory Project also focuses on the promotion of a strong public/private sector partnership in the management and marketing of Arts and Culture prospects as catalyst for economic development. It would be noted that the failure of previous governments to create an enabling and sustainable environment for the private sector investment, among others, combined to retard the development of the sector. To this effect, the private sector would be fully mobilized and involved in order to realize the objectives of the project. |
