Background Information
The Nigerian Arts & Culture Directory Project was initiated and commissioned in 2002 by Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Arts and Culture, now Office of the Special Adviser to the President on Cultural Affairs & Traditional Matters. The Project is in collaboration with the New Partnership for African Development (NEPAD) Nigeria vide the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on NEPAD, UNESCO – Nigeria, Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), etc.
Constitution Of The NACD Secretariat
The Project has a National Coordinator, a Head of Administration, Monitoring & Evaluation, Head of Research, Documentation and Development; a Head of Corporate Affairs & Legal Matters. The Project also has over thirty (30) Marketers, an Accountant and other support staff.
Contents of the Directory
The Nigerian Arts and Culture Directory as envisaged would be a compendium of “Who is Who” in Nigerian art, culture and tourism sub-sectors. The NACD project would be a comprehensive listing, indexing as well as a reference point for all practitioners and stakeholders of the Arts and Culture in Nigeria.
State Offices of Nigerian Arts and Culture Directory (NACD) Project
In respect of the foregoing, the role of the State Offices as it concerns the NACD project would be to project the aims of the NACD which include among other things:
- the organization of workshops, seminars and conferences in such a way that gained technical knowledge as well as businesses in these related fields would be brought to bare.
- provision of prospects for creative partnership between the public and the private sectors and at the same time explore the great opportunities for investment in the sector.
- promoting the diversification of Nigeria’s economic base from oil and gas through the development of Arts & Culture prospects.
- the use of NACD as a platform to expose the great wealth of these local industries to the global village; and
- present the Nigerian Arts & Culture potentials in its highest and widest concept by way of the promotion of investment relationship in the public and private sector participation.
The State representatives would assist the Project management in grassroots sensitization, mobilization and collation of materials for the project. This is to ensure a comprehensive database for the Directory. |
